Probably Both. In Lebanon there are 17 different religions : 40% christians (maronite-orthodox-catholic and other ) 55% muslims (chiite and sunnite) and 5% Druze and people in lebanon are VERY religious...The Other day on Mika's Official Myspace Page a girl left a comment about Mika's potential collaboration with This old Goat of Madonna and she wrote " I hope you will not work with her, it would be like sleeping with the enemy, do you want the places you play to be bombed when you will play in Lebanon? If you LOVE your native country and are proud of it, please dont work with her" the girl was a muslim from Israel, those people hate America the same way they loathe jews....bad news for people like her, Mika just said that he wished to collaborate with the singer Amy Winehouse on a xmas and jewish hannukka songs cd project...

Can The Falsetto Star Succeed Where U.N. Has Failed?

http://music3w.com/news_item.asp?id=3616

ika has stated a desire to collaborate with Amy Winehouse on the much talked about Jewish album. For those of you not familiar with this story, Mark Ronson announced in Rolling Stone Magazine last week that he and Amy have discussed the possibility of releasing an album with songs that celebrate both Hanukkah and Christmas.

Mika has said he would very much like to work on the album with Amy. This project would bring together Judaism and Christianity through the medium of cool jazz holiday songs. This could potentially be fraught with issues theologically speaking. Mika however believes that his involvement could send a positive message what with him being part Lebanese. Hang on. Presumably this would be bringing Islam into the mix wouldn’t it? Is this venture not enough of a minefield already?

I believe I’m correct in saying (I’m fairly certain actually) that this would be the first time in history that three of the largest monotheistic religions were celebrated on one album. It’s never been done before. There’s probably a reason for that.

The idea apparently came about when Amy Winehouse complained to Mark Ronson that loads of great songs were around to celebrate Christmas, but hardly any for Hanukkah. Things might have been a lot different obviously had Slade or The Pogues grown up on the Gaza Strip.

I kind of get what the project's about. Mainly to prove purely that it can be done. Lots of things can be done – you can pierce your nipples with a staple gun – but that doesn’t necessarily make it a good idea!

Mika who keeps being compared to Freddie Mercury has more than Music in common with the charismatic singer of Queen and might be facing the same kind of issues in the months or years to come....
They were both born in places where the dominant religion is Islam
Tons of religion sites and blogs dedicated pages and pages on the hate they had/have for Mercury regarding his sodom excessive way of living and his bisexuality, Freddie who wanted to be a sexual piece of meat made every deep islamist going mad, when the man said he was HIV positive, they all said it was God who punished him....
One of the most famous controversy is the following and you can find it on wikipedia:

"A further controversy ensued in August 2006, when an organisation calling itself the Islamic Mobilization and Propagation petitioned the Zanzibar government's culture ministry, demanding that a large-scale celebration of what would have been Mercury's sixtieth birthday be cancelled. The organization issued several complaints about the planned celebrations, including that Mercury was not a true Zanzibari and that he was gay, which is not in accordance with the laws of Islam, the dominant religion of the island. The organization claimed that "associating Mercury with Zanzibar degrades our island as a place of Islam."[59] The planned celebration was canceled."

So is MIKA going to face the same Issues once his sexuality or his opinions on religion will be exposed to the world??

For Mika performance at the House of Blues (USA) several religious symbols were attached above the stage, united by a sign in the middle emblazoned with “Unity in Diversity.” Will Mika save the World? Will Mika become a freedom Hero?? Is tolerance tolerated??
